Meet La Dessa Coleman, Music Librarian
La Dessa Coleman, Music Librarian, connected with this group in 2000 after relocating from the Midwest. La Dessa graduated from The Ohio State University. She was a patron of the arts community in Ohio and connected with both GALA Choruses: The Columbus Gay Men’s Chorus & Muse Women’s Chorus. La Dessa also sang briefly with Vogelweh Youth Gospel Choir (Germany) and The Ohio State University Gospel Choir.La Dessa was chosen out of a crowd at an Angela Bofill concert in Minneapolis to sing a song with the amazing vocalist and later treated to the backstage experience.
La Dessa’s love of the performing arts was instilled at an early age by her father. Her formative years were spent travelling across America and to various countries around the world with her family, exposing her to a variety of cultures. As a young person, she aspired to sing like Leontyne Price and Minnie Riperton. La Dessa also credits her father for teaching her about the importance of being in service to others. Many who have walked La Dessa’s path with her know that she is a long time human right’s activist & consummate community volunteer.
We are so glad that La Dessa considers this community HOME.
